Who Should Complete the Online Programs?
All incoming undergraduate students (first year and transfer students) are required to complete all three online We Are Slugs! programs. Readmitted students, who have not previously completed any of these programs, also must complete We Are Slugs! While Alcohol Edu and DEI are only required once, Sexual Assault Prevention is required for all returning students. The We Are Slugs! programs are accessed through the Summer Orientation Course via Canvas.
For international students who cannot access the online programs: We understand you may not be able to access these courses before arriving on campus. Once at UCSC, you can use a “campus computer lab”. The campus computer lab website provides information on locations, services, and hours available.
Accessibility:
If you are unable to complete the programs due to a disability-related access concern, please email weareslugs@ucsc.edu. We will work to either resolve the barrier or provide an alternative training.
Alternative options for survivors who find this training to be difficult due to a past history of sexual violence
The content in the Sexual Assault Prevention programs contains information about sexual violence and misconduct. Though the program is mandatory, an alternate option is available for those who may have difficulty with the content due to a previous experience of sexual or relationship violence. For more information, confidential support, or requests for the alternate program, please contact CARE (Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education) at care@ucsc.edu or 831-502-2273.
